Responsive Learning Experience Design

To meet the needs of an increasingly complex world, exceptional learning experiences must be effective, outcomes-based, and responsive to a variety of different conditions. The material must adjust to multiple modalities, different learner intents, and various levels of instructor experience.

My Philosophy

Responsive Learning Experience Design is a curriculum design approach that facilitates the creation of flexible learning experiences based on the following principles:

Backwards Design

Begin with the end in mind.

Multi-Modality

The material should be adaptable to any modality.

Modularity

Modules and lessons should be loosely coupled so they can be used in more than one course.

Thoughtful Course Evolution

The evolution of course structure and material should be built into the process. These changes should be evidence-based and strategic rather than reactionary.

Words Matter

The words we use set expectations and change behavior. Courses should have Learners, not Students and Facilitators instead of Instructors.
